Abstract
A field experiment was conduded on sandy loam solis at Central Potato Research Institute Campus, Modipuramresearch farm in west-central plains to optimize best crop geometry for obtaining maximum chipping size grade yield in two recently released potato cultivars Kufri Chipsona-1 and Kufri Chipsona-2. Planting geometry did not affect the plant growth parameters (plant height, compound leaf number/plant & stem number/m) and processing quahty parameters hke specific gravlty, dry matter content, Chlp colour and reducing sugars. In cv. Kufri Chlpsona-1 the maximum processing grade tuber number and yield (242.42 thousand/ha and 235q/ha) were recorded at 66 x 20 cm, spacing, while these yield attributes remained unaffected due to vanable crop geometry combmatIons m cv Kufri Chlpsona-2. In view of problem of greening of tubers In ridges, abrupt changes in soil moisture and temperature during tuber development and at matunty due to weather variations, It may be concluded that the spacing of 66 x 20 em could be recommended for growmg Chipsona cultivars for chipping purpose in this region.
