Cost, Returns and Profitability of Groundnut Cultivation in Mahaboobnagar District of Telangana State

Abstract

Groundnut is the KING of oilseeds and it isbotanically known as ‘Arachis hypogeae’ and belongsto the family Leguminosae. Groundnut is a cash cropproviding income and livelihood to the farmer. It alsocontributes to nutrition through consumption of pods.The pod contains 48.2% oil, 25.3% protein, 2.1% crudefiber and rich source of calcium, iron and vitamin Bcomplex like thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and vitamin A.
