EFFECT OF VARIOUS SOURCES OF ZINC WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO NANO ZINC CARRIER ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF RICE (Oryza sativa L.)

Abstract
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the dominant staple food for more than 50% of world population and India ranks first in the world in terms of area of rice cultivation with 44.6 m ha and second in productivity of 2.96 t ha-1. In Telangana state, rice is grown in an area of 1.7 m ha-1with a production of 6.4 m tons with a of productivity 3.6 t ha-1(India Stat.com., 2015-16). Micronutrients are essential for crop production and their deficiency affects growth, metabolism and reproductive phase of crop plants. Among the micronutrients, zinc deficiency in plants and soils has been reported across the world. In India, zinc is considered as the fourth important yield limiting nutrient after nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium respectively.
