Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2016 and 2017 at Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur (M.P.) to study the effect of propaquizafop and their combinations with imazethapyr on weeds and productivity of soybean. The crop was mainly infested with grassy weeds viz., Echinochloa colona (101.59 and 98.25 no./m2 ), Dinebra retroflexa (70.00 and 67.33 no./m2 ), Cynodon dactylon (23.83 and 22.34 no./m2 ) along with broad-leaf weeds viz., Eclipta alba (26.67 and 25.50 no./m2 ), Mollugo pentaphylla (26.83 and 24.75 no./m2 ), Alternanthera philoxeroides (22.50 and 21.25 no./m2 ) and sedge viz., Cyperus rotundus (41.33 and 38.17 no./m2 ) under weedy check plot. Among herbicides, application of premix propaquizafop + imazethapyr 56+78 g/ha as postemergence recorded lower dry weight of grassy weed (24.64 and 22.90 g/m2 ), broad-leaf weeds (5.86 and 5.03 g/m2 ) and sedge (4.60 and 4.48 g/m2 ), with 93.32 and 93.51% WCE being statistically at par with hand weeding twice and weed free plots along with least weed index (4.74 and 4.58%) during two respective years. The grain yield (2231 and 2252 kg/ha) and stover yield (4361 and 4435 kg/ha) was recorded significantly superior under propaquizafop + imazethapyr mixture (56+78 g/ ha) than that of hand weeding twice (2308 and 2342 kg/ha) and weed free plots (2342 and 2370 kg/ ha). Thus, the highest dose of propaquizafop + imazethapyr at 56+78 g/ha was found most effective against weeds.
