Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during spring of 2016 and 2017 at Agricultural Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh to evaluate the effect of different water based extract and herbicides on performance of spring planted sugarcane. The experiment consisted of five weed management practices in main plots and five aqua based water extract in sub plots. Weed management practices tried, weed free check resulted in the highest values of yield attributing characters and cane yield which were however, comparable to pre-emergence application of atrazine followed by halosulfuron-methyl and metribuzine followed by halosulfuron-methyl. Among the extracts highest yield attributing characters and cane yield was recorded under application of sorghum + Maize + Sunflower based extract.
