Abstract
The experiment was conducted at the Agronomy farm of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, Shalimar Srinagar India (34°5´ N latitude and 74°5´ E longitude) during kharif 2008 and 2009 with the objective to observe the performance of organic manure (FYM) with different inorganic fertilizers on the growth and productivity of transplanted rice. The treatment comprised of three levels of FYM (F10, F20 and F30), phosphorus (P60, P80 and P100) and sulphur (S20, S40 and S60). Plant characters, yield and yield attributes were significantly influenced by different treatments. Plant height, tillers m-2, LAI, and dry matter production was found to be significantly highest under the treatment combination F20P60S40 (FYM@ 20 t ha-1 + P2 O5  @ 60 kgha-1 + sulphur @ 40 kg ha-1). From the study it was observed that among the different treatments combinations F20P60S40 produced significantly highest grain yield (6.38 t ha-1) of rice which was statistically at par with other treatments. The economic analysis also showed that the treatment combination of F20P60S40 maximized the profit and benefit: cost ratio (1.65). The lowest BCR (0.64) was obtained from control treatment (F10P60S20).
