Abstract

A study was conducted among 200 farm women for their participation in food availability, nutritional diet, health care, environmental safety, Occupational engagement, Educational accessibility, dimensions of food security. On an average, the majority of rural women were found involved in these food security dimensions at medium level. The causes of their medium participation were socio- cultural constraints, low education, lack of technical information, poor social participation and poor extension support. Their involvement in planning and management of activities under these dimensions was at low level however instrumentally they were involved in carrying out different activities. The instrumental participation of rural women in these dimensions was in larger proportion. The study suggest for training and education of rural women on the improved practices related to food security. Since agriculture is feminizing, extension agencies should give appropriate attention to the rural women and provide adequate information support for house hold food security.
