Abstract

The experiment was conducted during 2003-04 to find out an effective antagonist enhancing germination and minimizing mortality of seedlings. Plastic pots of 10 cm diameter were filled with inoculated soil. The soil was inoculated with test fungus Sclerotium rolfsii grown on soil maize medium. Seed of susceptible cultivar of chickpea BG-1003 were treated with different species and isolates of Trichoderma spp. Six seeds were sown in each plot. Untreated seeds sown in the inoculated soil served as check.Three replications were maintained. There was significant difference in germination of the seeds treated with some isolates of Trichoderma and control. Maximum germination of chickpea (77.77%) was observed when the chickpea seeds were treated with T.viride
