Abstract

In India, pearl millet blast caused by Magnaporthe grisea is becoming a serious problem and causes
significant yield losses in various parts of country. In this study, we have standardized phenotyping
procedure against pearl millet blast disease. Further, we have evaluated 15 inbred lines in which
three entries were highly resistant viz., PPMI 1087, PPMI 1089 and PPMI 660 and two entries
(PPMI 1084 and J 108) were identified as resistant. This method will be useful for large scale
screening of pearl millet entries against blast pathogen.
