Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at research farm, Division of Agronomy, SKUAST-Jammu to
evaluate the efficacy of herbicides for the control of weeds in wheat. The treatments comprised of
weedy check, isoproturon @1 kg/ha, isoproturon + 2,4-D @ 1.00 kg/ha + 1.47kg/ha at 30 DAS,
metribuzin @ 285 g/ha, metribuzin @ 300 g/ha, pendimethalin @ 2500 ml/ha, sulfosulfuron +
metsulfuron @ 30g/ha + 2g/ha, mesosulfuron-methyl + iodosulfuron @ 12 g/ha + 2.4 g/ha,
clodinafop-propargyl @ 60 g/ha, sulfosulfuron @ 33.75 g/ha, pinoxaden @1000 ml/ha, metsulfuron
@ 25 g/ha and fenoxaprop @1000 ml/ha. The results revealed that pre-emergence application of
pendimethalin @ 2500 ml/ha recorded significantly lowest weed dry weight and lower weed index.
Pre-emergence application of pendimethalin @ 2500 ml/ha recorded significantly higher grain yield
of wheat yield which was closely followed by sulfosulfuron + metsulfuron @ 30g/ha + 2g/ha.
