Abstract

Irrigation water is one of the scarcest but critical resources for agricultural production and most of
the arid and semi-arid region is usually underlain by aquifers of poor quality. A field experiment
was conducted for two years during 2012-13 and 2013-14 Rabi season to assess the impact of saline
water irrigation. Four water salinity (BAW, 3,6 and 9 dS/m) were used in the irrigation for fennel
crop. The results of yield attributes of fennel crop shows that the No. of umbels/umblet, no. of
flower /umbel, seed per umbel was significantly higher in BAW irrigation and lowest in ECiw 9
dS/m. The 1000 seed weight no significant difference in all the saline water irrigation. The seed and
Stover yield was significantly higher in low saline water irrigation and lowest in ECiw 9 dS/m in
both as well as of two years, respectively.
