The present investigation was carried out at Crop Research Centre, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and technology, Pantnagar during rabi 2006-07 and 2007-08 by sowing ten wheat varieties on November 14 and December 20. Date of sowing significantly affected grain quality parameters. Grain protein content, sedimentation value and gluten content were higher in late sown than under timely sown but the trend was opposite for starch content. Varieties UP 2338, UP 2565, HD 2687 had higher values of protein content and sedimentation value whereas variety PBW 502 , UP 2554, PBW 373, UP 2572 and UP 2526 had higher starch content. Among the varieties, UP 2565 highest grain producing variety was at par with other varieties except HD 2687 and UP 2338. Highest net returns (Rs/ha) and B:C ratio was found from variety UP 2565.Downloads
