The present study was conducted in nursery at National Research Centre for Agroforestry, Jhansi during 2004. Bench grafting was performed in aonla on one year old bare rooted stocks employing cleft grafting in the month of February. The results showed overall success of bench grafting around 90% when performed at collar or 3 cm above collar. Grafting on 12.0204 took maximum 33 days while that on 26.02.04 took minimum 19 days to initiate sprouting. Maximum sprouting was recorded when average weather temperature was around 27°C. Storage of grafted plants in gunny bag upto 4 days did not affect success of grafting and days taken to initiate and complete sprouting. Thus, grafts can be transported to long distances with ease and negligible cost. The technique is recommended for on-time production of establishment and transport friendly plants on commercial scale.
