Abstract

A silvipasture was established in 1 ha area on ravinous habitat of Central Institute for Research on Goat, Makhdoom. Observations on plant component, water run-off and soil losses were recorded. Results revealed that among herbaceous species Cenchrus ciliaris, Pennisetum pedicellstum and Stylosanthes hamata were the suitable species for ravines. Ficus rumphii showed better survival and growth. Sand bag technique was about ten times effective in checking the soil loss then open area.
