Abstract

The present study entitled, “ Morphological analysis of Grewia optiva: Implications for its ecological and economic significance,” was conducted at different habitats of Grewia optiva in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The research focused on the morphological variations of Grewia optiva across 12 locations in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Growth traits, leaf characteristics and fruit parameters were analysed using RBD and ANOVA. The findings revealed that significant variations were observed, Nauni emerged as the most favourable site, with the highest values for growth parameters, leaf area and fruit traits while Ballowal Saunkhri had the lowest. Correlation analysis indicated strong positive relationships among growth, leaf, and fruit traits. PCA highlighted key traits contributing to variability. These findings provide valuable insights for selecting optimal sites for Grewia optiva plantations, facilitating its improved growth, sustainable utilization, and conservation.
