Abstract

The common carp, Cyprinus carpio var.
conwnunis, is one of the most widely cultured
species in India. However, its prolific
breeding at an early age of 6-8 months
(Jhingran 1982) not only upsets population
density, but also innpairs the growth of all
other species.
