Abstract
The pulmonate salt marsh snail Pythiaplicata inhabits the intertidal region of Pitchavaram
mangroves, Tamil Nadu (Lat. 11° 29' N;
Long. 79° 49' E). This snail followed a lunar
cycle in egg laying and hatching and it had a
benthic veliger. Only Shanmugam and Kasinathan
(1987) have worked on the reproduction
of pulmonate salt marsh snail in the Indian
mangroves.
