Distribution of mucous cells in the skin of a catfish, Clarias macrocephalus

Abstract
Skin samples obtained from 10 different zones on the body of Clarias macrocephalus showed thehighest number of mucous cells in the head and back regions, and the lowest in the ventral region.
Among the fins, the highest frequency of mucous cells was obtained from the dorsal fins. Female had
higher number of mucous cells as compared to male.
