Abstract
Plectorhynchus pictus, painted grunt(local name: (fersh), is a common fish in theArabian Gulf (Kuronuma and Abe, 1986) andhas attained much economic significance inrecent years in Kuwait. The production of thisspecies in Kuwait is mainly from the fish trapfishery using Mhows' (traditional woodenhulledboats, powered with a diesel engineranging from 150 to 450 hp). Latest statisticsshow that landings of Plectorhynchus speciesincreased from 90 to 330 t during 1985-'87(Hakim et ah, In press).Downloads
