EFFECT OF LOW SALINITIES ON THE SURVIVAL AND GROWTH OF PENAEUS MONODON (FABRICIUS)
95 / 32
Abstract
Effect of low salinity on the growth and survival of P. Monodon was studied under controlled conditions. Results indicated that even though low salinities had a highly significant influence on the growthrate of juveniles (P< 0.001), salinities ranging from 9 to 20 ppt did not influence growth rate. Largefluctuations in salinities ranging from 4 to 20 ppt were not a major factor influencing the survival(P>0.05). The probit regression line for the relation between the logarithmic salinity level (x) andmortality (y) was found to be y = 5.9820 + 13322x.Downloads
