Abstract
To assess the relative growth promoting efficiency of an androgenic hormone, 17 a methyl testosteroneon platy, Xiphophorus maculatus., the hormone incorporated feed was fed to the fish through pelletteddiets at five concentrations viz., 5.0,10.0,25.0,35.0 and 50.0 ppm. From the results obtained it is explicitthat the hormone MT has promoted the growth rate to a significant level (P>0.01) over the control. Whilethe 35 ppm concentration recorded a maximum growth rate (5.38 ± 036 mg/d) a drastic reduction inthe growth rate (2.88 ±0.19 mg/d) was observed at 5 ppm level. A similar dcminishcd growth patternwas observed at 50 ppm hormone level also.Downloads
