Abstract
The food and feeding habits of Acrossocheilus hexagonolepis(McClel\aad) has been determined. Thespecies was found to be an omnivour as evident from gut content analysis and the R.L.G. value. It can
be considered as a voracious feeder subsisting mainly on algae and vegetable matter. The feeding
intensity increased with the increasing length of the fish. The food habit of the fish changed from camiomnivorous
to herbi-omnivorous which is also evident from the increasing R.L.G. value with the increasing
length of the fish.
