Abstract

The trends in spatial distribution of iish were understood from the landings from 3 zones each
covering 26,42 and 32 % of the total area of Gobindsagar reservoir. The zone II contributed 3181
(53%)inl981-'82and234t (52%) in 1982-'83. Zone I came second, contributing 169 t (28%) in
1981-'82 and 117 t (26 %) in 1982-'83. The catch in zone III was lowest in both the years, constituting
not (18%) and 1001 (22%) respectively. Observed variation in catch at different zones might
have been due to seasonal changes, spawning movements, availability of food and depth of water
