Abstract
The distribution of sediment nitrogen, phosphorus, organic carbon andinterstitial salinity is reported oyer an annual cycle in Netravathi-Gurpur estuary,
Mangalore. The concentration of total nitrogen ranged between 32 and 1134 l^g "®,
total phosphorus from traces to 20 l^g "^, sediment organic carbon percentage from
0.24 to 3.46, and interstitial salinity from 131.2 to 629 g mg cl-|lGO g soil.
The study revealed that the sediment in this estuary contained higher percentage
of sand with less amounts of silt and clay
