LENGTH-WEIGHT RELATIONSHIP AND RELATIVE CONDITION FACTOR OF PRAWN, METAPENAEUS KUTCHENSIS (GEORGE, GEORGE & RAO), FROM OKHA (GUJARAT)
112 / 91
Abstract
The length-weight relationship of Metapenaeus kutchensis differed in thesexes and, therefore, separate equations were obtained; for male : Log W = —24.65
+ 2.94 Log L; and for female : Log W = —28.79 + 3.35 Log L. The relationship
between length and weight was significant at P < 1% (r = 0.95 for male,
and r = 0.94 for female). The Relative condition factor (Kn) changed during
various months; highest peak denoting attainment of sexual maturity and the
trough and small peak representing the cyclic gonadal development.
