HAEMATOBIOCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF HETEROPNEUSTES FOSSILIS UNDER THE STRESS OF ZINC
146 / 288
Abstract
-The toxic effects of sublethal concentration of zinc on Heteropneustesfossilis were studied under various exposure times. The RBC count, haemoglobin
content, packed cell volume (PCV) and mean corpuscular haemoglobin
concentration decreased, whereas white blood cell count, mean cell volume and
mean corpuscular haemoglobin tended to increase under the stress. Serum proteins
were found to decrease during the thirty days exposure to zinc. However, serum
cholesterol, bilirubin, creatinine, triglycerides, urea and thymol turbidity wer
