Abstract
Using the Bhattacharya method of age determination on monthly samplesof Indian mackerel Rastrelliger kanagurta, from the purse-seine catches of 1980-81
fishing season at Mangalore, Gangolli and Karwar landing centres, it is seen that
there were three broods of mackerel, of 1, 2 and 3 years old whose respective
mean total lengths were 19.45 cm, 23.45 cm and 25.20 cm
