LENGTH-WEIGHT RELATIONSHIP AND RELATIVE CONDITION FACTOR OF PRAWN, PALAEMON MALCOLMSONIl (EDWARDS), FROM RIVER OJAT OF SAURASHTRA (GUJARAT)
133 / 114
Abstract
There was no difference in length-weight relationship of Palaemon malcolmsoniibetween sexes and therefore a common equation for both was obtained:
Log W = -5.1962 + 3.11 log L. The relationship between the length and
weight is significant at P < 1% (r = 0.94). The relative condition factor shows
changes during various months, highest peak denoting attainment of sexual maturity
and remaining trough and the small peak representing the cyclic gonadial
development. Sexual maturity is usually attained when the prawn is about
61-70 mm long.
