Abstract
Channa punctata is mainly piscivorous. Thirteen species of fish are identifiedin the gut contents. The other major food items include fish larvae, ins'jcts and
crustaceans. Mollusoan shells and tadpoles are rare. Index of prepond'jrance reveals
the greater importance of the fish in the diet. Intensive feeding is during June-
July and November-December
