Abstract
The results of investigations on the fishery and biology of Hippolysmataensirostris during 1970-75 at Bombay are presented. The average growth rats
recorded of this species is 5.3 mm per month. The life span of the prawn is estimated
as 16-20 months. The bulk of the catch was contributed by the 0-year class,
particularly above 7 months, It is a perennial spawner. Femrle matures when 7-8
months old. Maximum number of eggs produced by a female is 6000.
