Abstract
Tacliyswus thatassinus breeds once a year, during April to August, withpeak period between May and July. The fish probably breeds in deep offshore
waters which are not fished regularly at present. The average length at first maturity
is 36 cm. The sexes are equally distributed in the commercial catch. Fecundity
(total number of mature eggs per female) varies between 25 and 42. Parental care
is exhibited by males.
