In the estuarine regions of Mangaior'e, several species of prawns are
Imown to ,spend their ea:rly life (Ramamurthy 1972). Of tlbese, Penaeus indicus
attains compa.ratively larger size and heooe tlbis specie1s was seleoted for cuirure
puTpOSe. The results of this srudy conducted from February-June 1974 aTe
