Abstract

The study was undertaken to inve'stigate the normal pH value of the
blood in field and laboratory conditions .and variti'On of the bJood pH during
hyperactiv1ty 'Of a few freSihw,ater teleDst:s, viz. Channa punctatus, Clarius baJIrachus,
Heteropneutes tossilis, Mystus vittatus, CoUsa tasciatus and Barbus ticto.
Only a £ew workcer:s have de,ait wi,tIh the piH 'Of the blood viz. Black (1958),
Black etal (1962), CaiUouet (1967, 68), Haws and Go'Odnight (1962). Brut
Gerard C. Le Tendre (1968) studied the blood pH 'Of Channel catfish Ictalurus
punctatus in diffefent c'Oditions
