Abstract
The carcharhinid shark, Rhizoprionodon otigoUnx springer 1964, which constitutesan important component of the shark fishery of Orissa, is recorded for the
first tin» from the Orissa coast. The taxonomic position of the species is conspecific
with Scoliodon ceylonensis Setna & Sarangdhar 1946, as its junior synonym.
