Abstract
Age and growth of Channa striatus from in Ukkadam Lake, Coimbatore were estimated by various methods. The empirical lengths and different ages calculated using von Bertalanffy's growth equation revealed high similarity with the estimates obtained from other methods thereby showing that, in the length ranges studied, the theoretical growth equation adequately represents actual growth. The asymptotic length (Lα) calculated by Ford-Walford method was 1024.5477 mm. The rate of growth of C. striatus seems to be fast and the species was found to grow upto five years of age.Downloads
