Abstract
Ontogeny of the lymphoid organs thymus, spleen and kidney were studied in the Indian major carp
Catla catla
during the
early development stages i.e., from day one post-hatch to three months of age. Routine histological methods were adopted to
study the development of these organs. Thymus appeared as thymic analogue and kidney appeared as an undifferentiated
mass of stem cells on first day of post-hatch whereas spleen appeared on the fifth day of post-hatch.
