Abstract
Rearing experiments conducted during 1999-2002 on fast growing strain of rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss at Chirapani fish farm of NRCCWF, Champawat, revealed that fish can attain an average growth of one kg (750 –2,100 g range) by 3rd year. Fishes were fed on two formulated diets having
approximate 47 and 57% protein levels. Performance of both the diets on juveniles
and adults were satisfactory both on growth increment and survival.
Males attained full maturity after 2+ yr, while females after 3+ yr under local
agro climatic conditions. The brood stock raised in this farm were successfully
bred and the seed produced was reared under farm conditions at the water
temperature range of 4.0 – 18.0 0C.
