Abstract
The presence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in tissues offish fromKoUeru lake was determined. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons measured wereanthracene, fluoranthene, pyrene crysene, benzo(e) pyrene perylene, benzo (a)pyrene, dibenz (ac) anthracene, dibenz(ah) anthracene, benzo(ghi) perylene andcoronene. Fish samples were collected at different points from Kolleru lake indifferent seasons in a year over a period of three years and analysed for polycyclicaromatic hydrocarbons using high pressure liquid chromatography. 89 out of 128fish samples analysed contained at least two or three PAHs and their concentrationswere also higher.PAHs concentrations in tissues decreased in the orderliver> gills>muscle.Downloads
