Abstract

The haematology of fingerlings oi Labeo rohita exposed to two sublethal concentrations
i.e., 10.3 ppm and 2.06 ppm of nuvan was studied. The parameters such
as total erythrocyte count, total leucocyte count, haemoglobin, blood glucose and
serum protein level were studied. There was an increase in blood glucose level
(7.63-27.02%) over the control and elevation of total leucocyte count from 5.51 to
40.92% over 45 days period in comparison to control value. The serum protein
value decreased from -2.21 to -22.51%, the total erythrocyte count decreased from
-3.35 to -8.49% and haemoglobin percentage decreased from -21.49 to -35.74. The
variation of mean length, breadth and surface area reduction of erythrocytes in 15
days exposure was insignificant whereas it was significant (p<.05) for 30 days
and 45 days test period.
