Abstract

Nine strains oiAeromonas hydrophila, isolated from ulcerative, septicemic and
dropsy infections of freshwater fishes were screened for the presence of plasmid
DNA by alkaline lysis extraction method and analysed by agarose gel electrophoresis.
All the 9 A. hydrophila strains harboured a single large diffused plasmid
DNA band with the weight of 23.13 kilobase (kb), whereas non-aeromonas
isolates showed 3 to 8 plasmids in the molecular weight range of 2.02 to 23.13 kb.
