Plasmids of Aeromonas hydrophila isolated from freshwater fishes
141 / 159
Abstract
Nine strains oiAeromonas hydrophila, isolated from ulcerative, septicemic anddropsy infections of freshwater fishes were screened for the presence of plasmid
DNA by alkaline lysis extraction method and analysed by agarose gel electrophoresis.
All the 9 A. hydrophila strains harboured a single large diffused plasmid
DNA band with the weight of 23.13 kilobase (kb), whereas non-aeromonas
isolates showed 3 to 8 plasmids in the molecular weight range of 2.02 to 23.13 kb.
