On the occurrence of Johnieops distinctus (Tanaka, 1916) (Pisces : Sciaenidae) from Indian Avaters

Abstract
The occurrence of Johnieops distinctus (Tanaka, 1916) is recorded in theIndian waters for the first time based on two specimens measuring 140 and
170 mm, in total length, collected from trawl catches at Visakhapatanam on
the coast of India during May 1994 and September 1995. The earlier reports
of this species are from the waters of China, Japan and Taiwan Strait. The
present record extends its distribution to the Indian waters
