Abstract
The food of Accrossocheilus hexagonolepis (McClelland) consists mainly of algae, unidentified vegetable matter, protozoan species, rotifers, nematodes, insects, crustaceans, unidentified animal matter, sand and detritus. Algae is the principal (20-43 %) food item (Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Euglenophyceae and Rhodophyceae).
