Abstract
Study on the fishery of Gosthani estuary, during 1993-'94 revealed thatmullets, silver biddies, sand whitings and glass fishes were dominant in the
catch. Most of the catch was represented by juveniles of marine fishes. Though
it is a minor estuary of about 120 ha in area the constituent fishery forms
the livelihood of nearly 100 families of fishermen living around and hence can
be categorised as subsistence fishery
