Focus and Scope

THE INDIAN JOURNAL OF VETERINARY ANATOMY publishes, the original research articles, short communications, reviews and comments on the comparative, descriptive, experimental, applied anatomy, histology, cytology, histochemistry, cytochemistry, developmental anatomy etc. as they relate to vertebrates. Preference is given to the articles on the ultrastructure, immuno-histochemistry, lectin histochemistry and modern imaging techniques on species of Veterinary importance. Research papers on anatomy of different systems of wild and laboratory animals are also considered provided that a prior permission has been taken from the appropriate authorities. Review articles are invited from renowned scientists on different topics of anatomy with functional significance. The article should have not hitherto been published/accepted/submitted elsewhere.

Peer Review Process

The authors are requested to submit soft copy of their research manuscript along with photographs by e mail (editorijva@gmail.com). A reference number is allotted to the particular manuscript. The soft copy of research manuscript is sent to two referees for peer review after deleting the name(s) and affiliation of the author(s). The reviewer is selected by the Chief executive Editor on the basis of topic of article. The referee is provided with the guidelines to review the manuscript either on computer by track changes or getting a print of the manuscript, suggest changes on hard copy followed by scanning of the papers and deliver to Chief Executive Editor through e mail. Referee is requested to return the mail if he is not able to accept to review the same. If accepted, then referee has to give his/her opinion about the alterations/acceptance/rejection of the manuscript. In case, the review report is not received within 3 weeks, then a reminder is sent to the concerned referee. The Chief Executive Editor also goes through the reviewed manuscript and suggests editorial changes before sending to the author. The author(s) is/are requested to alter the manuscript as per suggestions of the referees. If author disagree to a particular comment then he/she may give justification in favor of that point. But addition or deletion of any comment will be considered if Chief Executive Editor agrees and satisfied. Referee has to give comments about suitability of article for publication taking account of title, abstract, language of text, references (number and relevance), tables (required or not), quality and number of photographs etc.

Publication Frequency

The journal is published bianually in June and December.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

The first issue of first volume of the journal was published in 1989. The journal is published regularly and its periodicity is six monthly (two issues per volume, June & December).
