Abstract

To determine the effect of soybean and groundnut bran supplementation on the biological efficiency of Pleurotussajor-caju (Fr.) Singer, six lignocellulosic substrates viz., conventional (wheat straw, paddy straw and soybean straw) and nonconventional (domestic waste, news paper waste and used tea leaves) were utilized. The results revealed a directly proportional relationship between ratio of supplementation and the yield of P. sajor-caju. Best spawn run and yield on each substrate was obtained from 3% of soybean bran and it was followed by groundnut bran. Among the six substrates, best spawn run and highest mushroom yield was obtained in soybean straw.
