Abstract

Eight different systemic and non – systemic fungicides including two strobilurins were evaluated for their efficacy against Phytophthora leaf blight and fruit rot of bell pepper. Under in vitro evaluation , metalaxyl +mancozeb, mancozeb, cymoxanil + mancozeb, carbendazim + mancozeb and copper oxychloride completely inhibited the mycelial growth of the fungus while, kresoxim methyl was least effective. When evaluated by detached leaf method under laboratory conditions, metalaxyl +mancozeb, mancozeb, cymoxanil + mancozeb, copper oxychloride and azoxystrobin exhibited 100 per cent disease control while carbendazim + mancozeb treated leaves developed 66.67 per cent disease severity. In protective spray programme, four sprays of metalaxyl + mancozeb (0.25%) at fortnightly intervals were found highly effective followed by copper oxychloride and cymoxanil + mancozeb while captan was least effective. Maximum fruit yield was also recorded in cymoxanil + mancozeb followed by metalaxyl + mancozeb which were statistically at par with each other.
