Abstract

Studies were undertaken to determine the effect of biocontrol agents viz., Aspergillus niger, Trichoderma harzianum, Paecilomyces lilacinus and Pseudomonas fluorescens alone @ 100 kg/ha each having 2×108 cfu/g culture and organic amendments viz., neem seed powder @ 500 kg/ha and farmyard manure @ 3000 kg/ha alone and in combination (@ half dose of each treatment material) against root-knotwilt disease complex caused by Meloidogyne incognita and Fusarium solani on chilli cv. CA-960 under sick field conditions in nursery beds. Results indicated that all the treatments alone and in combination significantly improved the number of germinated seedlings and fresh weight of the seedlings and reduced the root-knot index and percent root infection. T. harzianum + neem seed powder was found to be highly effective in increasing the number of germinated seedlings and fresh weight of seedlings/bed. Highest reduction in rootknot index was observed in nursery beds treated with carbofuran. However, highest reduction in percent root infection by F. solani was observed in nursery beds treated with T. harzianum + neem seed powder.
