Abstract

Out of several isolates of the fungus collected, 5 monoconidial isolates were selected for detailed study pertaining to variability among the isolates. Results revealed differences in colony characters such as growth, shape, margin, color, texture and zonation. The radial growth of the isolates on culture media differed significantly from each other. The size, shape, septation and pigmentation of conidia of five isolates grown on five culture media, differed significantly from each other. Germinability and subsequently formation of appresoria at two different temperatures in the five isolates were invariably significantly different from each other.
