Abstract

Efforts were made to study epidemiological aspects of lentil rust. The optimum germination of aeciospores, urediospores and teliospores was recorded at 20°C. Viability of aeciospores and urediospores of U. viciae fabae (Pers.) de Bary decreased with increase in time, whereas, germination of teliospore after 8 months of storage gave positive results. Age of plant had no direct relationship with rust appearance in lentil, while, 24 h leaf wetness after inoculation was found to be optimum for rust development.
