Abstract

Dictypleiosporus, a new genus of watermoulds was isolated from ditches and is established with the type species D. unisexualis .The genus shows similarities in dictyozoosporangia to the genus Dictyuchus Leitgeb. but widely differs from it by developing many eggs in oogonia, by the absence of antheridia and by the presence of abundant, swollen and variously shaped gemmae. The oogonia develop distinct stout and long stalks. Sometimes these stout stalks also contain a number of eggs. The number of eggs in oogonia varies from 1-20 or even more. On the basis of these remarkable differences to the allied genus Dictyuchus, the new genus is described with its type species.
